Last summer, I led a writing workshop at a local library. I made a comment on a participant's work, saying something like "finding the beauty in ashes." Several people in the workshop acted as if I'd said the most profound thing they'd ever heard. Some of them even wrote it down.
Of course, I had to tell them I didn't say it first--Isaiah did. It's remarkable and sad to me whenever I realize that so many people aren't familiar with the incredible beauty of the Bible--its language and stories.
No matter what your religious beliefs might be--everyone owes it to themselves to study the Bible's poetry.
For the next three months, I'll be posting a few of my favorite scripture verses on Mondays. How about you? What are your favorite verses?
