Fighting Over Covers

So I published my novel The Rhyme's Library, but I didn't love the cover. When I was in New York I took some great pictures in the New York City Library and I made two new covers for my book. Which one do you like best?

  1. I like the first one, but you will need to change the color of the font so that it will stand out against the lighter background. Cool photos!

  2. I like the one with your name at the top...Congratulations on your second publication!

  4. I'll qualify that, like christy said, i like the first one if you change the color of the title so it can be seen better.

  5. Definitely the top one, Kristy. It has a certain 'mood' to it.

  9. Thanks for all your input. On the kindle boards a few said the second cover looked too fake--like a stock photo. I found that funny and complimentary since I took the pictures myself. The hand was photo shopped in. The first picture I had to take through a glass door (hence the glare, which I have decided I like) because the researchers didn't want me interrupting them.

I think the second photo would look better as a thumbnail, but I'm going with the first because it looks more small town.

  10. Imagine me squatting outside the glass door, fiddling with my camera and ignoring the hostile researchers. Why should they have such a pretty room all to themselves?

  11. The first, definitely. I did't notice the hand in the second until you mentioned it and then I still had to look for it.

  12. I actually like the second one. It definitely says "Library" louder than the first one does. There has to be ONE dissenting vote, right?
